Michael R. Lucas

Michael R. Lucas has been practicing law in the Joliet area for 35 years. He has represented both private and municipal clients in local courts, courts of appeal and the federal court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is a member of the Will County  Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. He has represented several municipalities as prosecutor and has wide experience in both civil and criminal matters.

Michael’s practice areas include Estate Planning, Estate Litigation, General Civil Litigation, Real Estate, Personal Injury, Mechanic’s Liens, Traffic, and Driver’s License Reinstatement.  In addition to practice before Illinois State Courts, he is also licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for Northern Illinois.

Michael previously served as a Commissioner on the Historical Preservation Commission for the Village of Plainfield.  He is a former President of the Board of Directors of the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic, past President of the Estate Planning Council of Greater Joliet, and a past President of the Plainfield Lions Club.  He has previously served as a board member of the Plainfield Park District Foundation and the Plainfield School District 202 Foundation for Excellence. Michael previously served as a member of the Trusts and Estates Section Council and the Elder Law Council of the Illinois State Bar Association.  Community activities also include the Joliet Chamber of Commerce and the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

Michael’s undergraduate degree is from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana.  He graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in Indiana.  Michael was raised in the Plainfield-Joliet area; graduated from Plainfield High School and also attended Joliet Junior College.
